If/when a breach occurs, if THEY deem you partly/wholly negligent in protecting yourself, payouts may be reduced/denied, coverage dropped, making you uninsurable. TALK to your insurance company. UNDERSTAND what they expect you to do to reasonably protect yourself (and by default them). ACT to comply and ensure full protection in case an issue does arise.


Among small businesses with fewer than 250 employees, the average reported cyberattack cost was about $25,600, according to a 2021 report from Hiscox, an insurance provider. That amount could be enough to shutter some small firms.
